Video Modeling
Because students with ASD tend to learn more effectively through visual representations, video modeling can be an extremely effective method for teaching these children. A teacher can video students conducting class procedures, appropriate behavior, and/or instruction. The link below is an example of video modeling that also demonstrate how to use the E-Word Wall.

E-Word Wall
Word walls are used in many classrooms, but are not being used effectively. An electronic word wall allows teachers to individualize vocabulary, spelling, phonics, and word work for each student. Students can be explicitly taught how to upload the file on the computer then can independently work through the activity. Students are able to learn on their specific level of need while the teacher can tend to other students. An E-Word Wall is more effective than a tradition word wall because more elements of learning styles are present. Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders learn best through visual representations and this computer-assisted activity provides that accommodation. A child can not only see a specific word or letter, but can also see a picture of the word, hear the word, and read/listen to the word in context. The teacher can also set up the program to have the student record his/her voice reading the word and sentence. This makes the activity more authentic and gives the student practice in producing the sounds and using the words in context.
Each teacher can create the E-Word Wall as best fits his/her classroom. If students need fewer letters or words, the teacher is simply able to build the program as needed.
